The Andy Griffith Show: The Darlings Are Coming - Season 3, Episode 25 (1963) 22.40 min. | 4.826087 avaliação | 15832 exibições thefilmarchive.org DVD: www.amazon.com March 18, 1963 The Sheriff has his hands full as a clan of mountain musicians descends on Mayberry. This is the first appearance of The Darlings. Trivia buffs will note that Andy's microphone cord is visible in his pants leg as he first approaches the Darling's truck at the watering trough. This marks the first appearance of Denver Pyle, who would go on to play Uncle Jesse on The Dukes of Hazzard The inscription on the trough reads: DAVID MENDELBRIGHT 1870-1933/LET NO HORSE GO THIRSTY HERE. Don Knotts does not appear in this episode. The Darlings check into Room #27 at the Mayberry Hotel. The Darling boys aren't very talkative. Although they sing in most of the episodes in which they appear, this is the only episode in which they speak. In the jail cell Aunt Bee asks if everyone has had enough to eat and one of the boys says "about to pop", and as she is leaving they all stand up and say "Thank You Aunt Bee/Good Night". Dud Wash spent three years in the Army. He brought back a "tiger eye" ring for Charlene. He bought it in Spokane, Washington. Dud Wash arrives on a Southern Buslines bus out of Macon, Georgia. The Darlings were a fictional family of musically-inclined hillbillies in the American TV sitcom The Andy Griffith Show. The Darlings (usually pronounced Darlin's) lived in a mountain shack somewhere in the mountains neighboring Mayberry. The good-natured, but trouble-making Appalachian clan, led by patriarch Briscoe Darling .... + Informações |

Meet The O'Briens - Failed 1950s TV Pilot Starring Dave O'Brien and Jeff Donnell (1954) 23.90 min. | 4.7777777 avaliação | 11529 exibições DVD: www.amazon.com thefilmarchived.blogspot.com Dave O'Brien (May 31, 1912 -- November 8, 1969) was an American film actor, director and writer. Born David Poole Fronabarger in Big Spring, Texas, O'Brien started his film career in bit parts before gradually winning larger roles, mostly in B pictures. O'Brien became familiar to movie audiences in the 1940s as the hero of the famous MGM comedy short film series Pete Smith Specialties narrated by Pete Smith. O'Brien wrote and directed many of these subjects under the name David Barclay. He also appeared in many low-budget Westerns, often billed as 'Tex' O'Brien, alluding to his home state. To modern audiences, he is most likely best to be remembered as a frantic dope addict in the low-budget exploitation film Reefer Madness (1936), yelling "Play it faster, play it faster!!" to a piano-playing girl. He appeared in Queen Of The Yukon (1940) as Bob Adams. In 1940, he appeared in The Devil Bat as part of a comedy team with Donald Kerr. They also appeared together in Son of the Navy (1940) and The Man Who Walked Alone (1945). In 1942, O'Brien starred in the movie serial Captain Midnight. One of his later roles was in the film musical version of Kiss Me, Kate (1953), a rare featured role for the actor in an 'A' list big-budget production. O'Brien married one of his co-stars of Reefer Madness, Dorothy Short, in 1936, but they divorced in 1954 after having two children. In 1955, he married Nancy O'Brien and had three more children .... + Informações |

The Hunchback of Notre Dame: Lon Chaney, Patsy Ruth Miller, Norman Kerry (1923 Movie) 100.73 min. | 4.304348 avaliação | 22449 exibições DVD: www.amazon.com thefilmarchive.org The Hunchback of Notre Dame is a 1923 American film starring Lon Chaney as Quasimodo and Patsy Ruth Miller as Esmeralda, and is directed by Wallace Worsley. The film is the second most famous adaptation of Victor Hugo's novel, following the critically acclaimed, much reissued 1939 masterpiece by RKO. The tale was almost unrecognizable in the freely adapted 1996 Disney cartoon version. The film was Universal's "Super Jewel" of 1923 and was their most successful silent film, grossing over $3 million. The film is most notable for the grand sets that recall 15th century Paris as well as Lon Chaney's performance and spectacular make-up as the tortured bell-ringer of Notre Dame. The film elevated Chaney, already a well-known character actor, to full star status in Hollywood. It also helped set a standard for many later horror films, including Chaney's The Phantom of the Opera in 1925. Today, the film is in the public domain. The story is set in Paris ten years before Columbus discovered America. Quasimodo is a deformed (deaf and half-blind) bell-ringer of the famous Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris. Jehan Frollo, the evil brother of the saintly archdeacon Claude Frollo, prevails upon him to kidnap the fair Esmeralda, the adopted daughter of Clopin, who is the king of the oppressed beggars of Paris' underworld. The dashing Captain Phoebus rescues her from Quasimodo, while Jehan escapes and leaves him. Phoebus is entranced by Esmeralda, and .... + Informações |

The Sadist: Profile of Terror - Arch Hall Jr., Richard Alden, Marilyn Manning (1963 Movie) 91.63 min. | 4.818182 avaliação | 20507 exibições DVD: www.amazon.com thefilmarchive.org The Sadist (also known as Profile of Terror and Sweet Baby Charlie) is a 1963 black-and-white exploitation film written and directed by James Landis, and stars Arch Hall, Jr. The film is loosely based on the killings of Charles Starkweather, upon which the films Badlands and Natural Born Killers were also based. It was shot by famed cinematographer Vilmos Zsigmond over a period of 2 weeks for $33000 with a cast of five, one of which doubled as the production's production manager. Three high school teachers, Ed, Doris, and Carl, are driving through rural Southern California on their way to a Dodgers game in Los Angeles. The group's Chevrolet Belair has some trouble and they are forced to pull off to a gas station/junkyard on the side of the road. After examining the vehicle Ed concludes that the fuel pump will need to be replaced. Doris and Carl search the junkyard looking for the owner, but they cannot find him. In the residence Carl finds a warm meal with a table set for four, but oddly enough nobody is in the house. The three realize this is very peculiar and start to seriously worry about their situation. At this point Charlie Tibbs, a rather large man wielding a Colt .45, and his girlfriend Judy show up. Charlie and Judy have spent the past several days heading west from Arizona, leaving a trail of corpses behind them. Law enforcement is on the hunt for them, but Charlie has managed to stay a step ahead by changing vehicles .... + Informações |

Roswell Incident: US Government Explanation - Documentary Film (1997) 24.58 min. | 3.4705882 avaliação | 56827 exibições thefilmarchive.org DVD: www.amazon.com The two Air Force reports on the Roswell UFO incident, published in 1994/5 and 1997, form the basis for much of the skeptical explanation for the 1947 incident, the purported recovery of aliens and their craft from the vicinity of Roswell, New Mexico. The first report, "The Roswell Report: Fact versus Fiction in the New Mexico Desert," identified a secret military research program called Project Mogul as the source of the debris reported in 1947. The second report, "The Roswell Report: Case Closed" concluded that reports of alien recoveries were likely misidentified military programs or accidents. By the mid-1990s, the Roswell UFO incident, the alleged crash and recovery of aliens and their spacecraft near Roswell, New Mexico, USA in 1947 had generated a mini-industry, with numerous books suggesting an alien cover-up and Roswell itself transformed into a popular tourist destination centered on UFO-related attractions. Polls, like a 1997 CNN/Time poll, suggested that a strong majority of Americans believed that the government was hiding evidence of the existence of aliens, and specifically, that the Roswell incident involved the recovery of aliens. In that context, many were demanding answers from their government on what really happened at Roswell in 1947, so in January 1994, Congressman Steven Schiff requested that the United States Congress' investigative branch, the General Accounting Office (GAO), look into the matter. The next .... + Informações |

CIA Archives: Leo Tolstoy Biography (1970) 30.18 min. | 4.9215684 avaliação | 20796 exibições DVD: www.amazon.com thefilmarchive.org Leo Nikolayevich Tolstoy (September 9, 1828 -- November 20, 1910) was a Russian writer who primarily wrote novels and short stories. Later in life, he also wrote plays and essays. His two most famous works, the novels War and Peace and Anna Karenina, are acknowledged as two of the greatest novels of all time and a pinnacle of realist fiction. Tolstoy is equally known for his complicated and paradoxical persona and for his extreme moralistic and ascetic views, which he adopted after a moral crisis and spiritual awakening in the 1870s, after which he also became noted as a moral thinker and social reformer. His literal interpretation of the ethical teachings of Jesus, centering on the Sermon on the Mount, caused him in later life to become a fervent Christian anarchist and anarcho-pacifist. His ideas on nonviolent resistance, expressed in such works as The Kingdom of God Is Within You, were to have a profound impact on such pivotal twentieth-century figures as Mohandas Gandhi and Martin Luther King, Jr. Many consider Tolstoy to have been one of the world's greatest novelists. Tolstoy is one of the giants of Russian literature. His most famous works include the novels War and Peace and Anna Karenina and novellas such as Hadji Murad and The Death of Ivan Ilyich. His contemporaries paid him lofty tributes. Fyodor Dostoyevsky thought him the greatest of all living novelists. Gustave Flaubert, on reading a translation of War and Peace .... + Informações |

It tells the story of three survivors of a mysterious apocalypse which appears to have wiped out all human life on earth. The screenplay is by Robert Towne, who also appears in the film billed as "Edward Wain". The music was composed and conducted by Ronald Stein. Towne is the author of many notable film scripts, including Chinatown (1974), for which he received an Academy Award, plus its sequel, The Two Jakes (1990), and Oscar-nominated screenplays The Last Detail and Shampoo as well as the first two Mission Impossible films. Towne has also a "stellar reputation" in the motion-picture industry as an uncredited script doctor, who has worked in such a capacity for The Godfather, Bonnie and Clyde, The Parallax View, The Rock and dozens of other Hollywood films. After working for years on a script of Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes (1984) he grew dissatisfied with the production and credited his dog, PH Vazak, with the script. Vazak became the first dog nominated for an Oscar for screenwriting, but he did not fetch the award. Towne co-wrote the film 8 Million Ways to Die using the alias David Lee Henry. Towne also wrote and directed Personal Best (1982), a fictional drama of female track-and-field athletes, and Without Limits (1998), a biopic based on the life of distance runner Steve Prefontaine. South America, School of the Americas, US Special Forces, Venezuela, and Panama (1972) 63.47 min. | 3.4242425 avaliação | 61221 exibições thefilmarchive.org The Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation (WHISC or WHINSEC), formerly the United States Army School of the Americas (USARSA or SOA; Spanish: Escuela de las Américas) is a United States Department of Defense educational and training facility at Fort Benning near Columbus, Georgia in the United States. Established by the US government for teaching law enforcement and military techniques to US allies in the rest of the Americas, it has been criticized for training Latin American dictators and their militaries in various techniques to quell dissidence in their countries. In 1946, in the early days of the Cold War, the Latin American Training Center -- US Ground Forces was established in the Atlantic sector of the Panama Canal Zone, in the US army base of Fort Amador. During 1949 it was expanded and became the US Army Caribbean Training Center, seated into a former hospital building on the grounds of Fort Gulick (now housing the Melia Hotel). It was once again expanded and renamed the US Army School of the Americas in 1963. It relocated to Fort Benning in 1984, following the signing of the Panama Canal Treaty. More than 61000 military personnel attended these United States Army schools. According to WHINSEC's web page, "the School of the Americas taught military education courses as they were taught in US Armed Forces institutions?the School translated the courses, lessons plans and all, into Spanish. Parodies Parody: Mind of Obsession College Course Film Project HNC Spoof Short Film 29.77 min. | 2.2 avaliação | 22325 exibições www.willowcreekpictures.com In memory of John Henry, much loved member of the Edinburgh Cine and Video Society, 2008. Mind of Obsession has been my most ambitious short films project to date, filmed in Spring and Summer, 2008. It is a short youtube spoof fictional film running 30 minutes which I produced for my HNC Graded Unit which I got the idea for making after watching the original classic movie online, an Ealing Film, Kind Hearts and Coronets. A moment of inspiration led to months of hard work to produce the final college movie from Willow Creek Pictures. Looking back at this college film, it's full of mistakes, particularly continuity and problems with the spoof film trying to be a period which is no easy task. I look back though on the humrous movies spoof project as being a great learning experience for learning how to make a short film spoof online. I've not been involved with anything as complicated as this project since so it's at the forefront of my mind in terms of being a useful experience to apply to future projects. The spoofs filming used some impressive locations around Edinburgh which included the beautiful setting of the village of Duddingston in Scotland where the Church scenes were filmed at Duddingston Kirk. We were really lucky to film here for free after the kind gesture made by the Minister, James Jack who remains there today. I remember on one of the shooting days, we had a large picnic lunch prepared by James which everyone really appreciated .... + Informações |
