Originally known as The Plan, American Werewolves were formed in 1998 by crooner Trevor Moment and by 2003 a permanent lineup was found in Nate 68 on drums, Tony Scambony on bass and Brendan Less on guitars. Much like their namesake, American Werewolves shape-shift from timeless 50's doo-wop to violent, blood-curdling punk. Their sound is built upon the DIY punk foundation set by early punk bands like The Damned and The Misfits with hints of Frankie Lymon for good measure. With 3 releases already under their belt, American Werewolves are set to release their most frightening album to date, entitled 1968, to be released on Fractured Transmitter Records. 'An American Werewolf In London' (1981) is a horror film written and directed by John Landis. It is regarded as a cult classic and won an Academy Award for Outstanding Achievement in Make-Up. It was Rick Baker who created the FX and the make-up and the result is still as chilling as it was years ago. The most striking thing about this movie is the perfect balance between horror and humor. The story begins when two Americans arrive at an English pub called 'The Slaughtered Lamb'. As David and Jack leave the pub they are told to stay on the road. Of course they don't and soon they are attacked by a wolf-like creature. And from there it only gets worse for the duo. The song that I used for this video is my favourite from the movie. It's called 'Bad Moon Rising' by Creedence Clearwater Revival. The music that you'll hear during the credits is 'Blue Moon' by The Marcels. See you next Wednesday!
