This clip aired on Granada/ITV in 1976, produced by Muriel Young and directed by Peter Walker. This version is available on The Arrows "Tawny Tracks" rarities album. There have been many different recording bands named the Arrows over decades, on separate continents, so in order to keep focus and clarity I have made sure people know this is the Arrows fronted by lead singer Alan Merrill in the headline above. Clip trivia: The mystery man standing by the tree with the Arrows at the end of this clip is Monsieur Kamayatsu of the legendary Japanese band The Spiders. Nevermind The Buzzcocks, Alan Merrill, Arrows 2.00 min. | 4.8166666 avaliação | 15149 exibições Arrows lead singer Alan Merrill gets a turn at being part of the mystery lineup on Nevermind The Buzzcocks in 2002. A no brainer for the panel, which included Skid Row's Sebastian Bach. There's a glimpse of Arrows performing their 1974 top ten record "touch too much," which reached #6 in the NME singles charts. Interesting that the show's host failed to mention that Merrill was also a guitarist for several years with the band Meat Loaf after The Arrows broke up. I was amazed that fact was overlooked given the revered stature of the Meat Loaf band in the UK.. + Informações |

NUMBERS, ALAN MERRILL 3.23 min. | 5.0 avaliação | 898 exibições The song "Numbers", performed by Alan Merrill. Originally written for his band Runner's second album, the song was only recorded in demo form at London's ATV Music in 1978 by Runner band members Alan Merrill and Steve Gould with a click track. In 2010 Alan Merrill added the drums of ex Paul McCartney and Wings drummer Steve Holley in New York and the track was completed. Of interest-- Eric Clapton had a hold on this song in 1979 when Runner didn't do it and nearly recorded the tune, but it was decided by his label that it was too close to "Lay Down Sally" stylistically, so Clapton ultimately didn't record it. Please Let Me Love You - Alan Merrill 3.73 min. | 4.9259257 avaliação | 2545 exibições Please Let Me Love You from Merrill 1, Alan's first solo LP, released in Japan in 1971. The album did very well there, even though all the songs were in the English language. This was a very unusual thing in Japan at the time. Alan Merrill was the first successful foreigner in Japan's domestic rock market in the country's history, having hit records in the Japanese language, touring, modeling, and hosting TV shows in the late 1960s and early 70s. He was a pioneer, performing and touring with the top Japanese bands of the day, The Tigers, Tempters, The Spiders, and Golden Cups, the only foreigner in the "Group Sounds" scene. Arrows, Love Rider, Alan Merrill 2.47 min. | 4.7685184 avaliação | 36225 exibições The band Arrows perform "Love Rider," in 1976 with lead singer Alan Merrill dropping bass guitar and fronting the band. It was around this time that the band began to reshuffle their lineup from the original 1974 trio, plus the addition of a new guitarist (Terry Taylor), and also a fifth (for the touring band) player, a utility member (Steve Gould of the recently disbanded Rare Bird) taking up bass duties but never seen on camera. Although recorded in 1976, this song was not released until the Millennium because of an ugly legal situation with their record label that prevented the band from releasing any recordings, ultimately resulting in the breakup of the group. Dormant for decades, the song was released some 30 years later, and appears on the album "Arrows, A's B's and Rarites" on EMI records. The new addition to the band on lead guitar Terry Tayor makes an appearance here. (Terry is currently with Bill Wyman's Rhythm Kings). Lead vocals by Alan Merrill, rhythm guitar Jake Hooker, and drums Paul Varley. Arrows wardrobe designed exclusively by Dee Harrington. Website- www.arrowsfan.co.uk. + Informações |
