Al Stewart - Year of the cat 6.37 min. | 4.9460645 avaliação | 3608240 exibições The version with the piano solo in the beginning. Lyrics: On a morning from a Bogart movie In a country where they turn back time You go strolling through the crowd like Peter Lorre Contemplating a crime She comes out of the sun in a silk dress running Like a watercolour in the rain Don't bother asking for explanations She'll just tell you that she came In the year of the cat. She doesn't give you time for questions As she locks up your arm in hers And you follow 'till your sense of which direction Completely disappears By the blue tiled walls near the market stalls There's a hidden door she leads you to These days, she says, I feel my life Just like a river running through The year of the cat She looks at you so cooly And her eyes shine like the moon in the sea She comes in incense and patchouli So you take her, to find what's waiting inside The year of the cat. Well morning comes and you're still with her And the bus and the tourists are gone And you've thrown away the choice and lost your ticket So you have to stay on But the drum-beat strains of the night remain In the rhythm of the new-born day You know sometime you're bound to leave her BUt for now you're going to stay In the year of the cat.. + Informações |

Al Stewart Time Passages 6.75 min. | 4.952381 avaliação | 309399 exibições Al Stewart (born Alastair Ian Stewart, 5 September 1945) is a Scottish[singer-songwriter and folk-rock musician. Stewart came to stardom as part of the British folk revival in the '60s and '70s, and developed his own unique style of combining folk-rock songs with delicately woven tales of the great characters and events from history. He is best known for his hit 1976 single "Year of the Cat" from the platinum album Year of the Cat. Though Year of the Cat and its 1978 platinum follow-up Time Passages brought Stewart his biggest worldwide commercial successes, earlier albums such as Past, Present and Future from 1973 are often seen as better examples of his intimate brand of historical folk-rock - a style to which he has returned in recent albums. Stewart was a key figure in a fertile era in British music and he appears throughout the musical folklore of the age. He played at the first ever Glastonbury Festival in 1970, knew Yoko Ono pre-Lennon, shared a London apartment with a young Paul Simon, and hosted at the legendary Les Cousins folk club in London in the 1960s.. + Informações |

ON THE BORDER ~ AL STEWART 3.48 min. | 4.951574 avaliação | 116104 exibições "On the Border" is one of those tunes that always had just a special magic quality for me and always brought images of our Mexican neighbors to me...I was inspired to create my vision of "On The Border" by my sisters' recent cruise to Cozumel and Calica. The first four photos were made by her. I love the art, the architecture and music of Mexico..not to mention a reaL taco and all the flavors and aromas of the Mexican culture...some like it hot!! Awe, to watch and hear the beautiful flamenco The afternoon of the morning "On The Border" was born...I am very happy that I was given a place to express my 3:29 minutes vision for it...I just wish I had had said gracias mi amigas and amigos...I learn that from Paula ~curumina~ and Randy ~ElRandy11~ and another special friend ~AlbertValenzuela and his beautiful family of characters..fa'reaL..muchas gracias, the one and only Beto? I, remain forever in awe of the Mayan and Aztec culture. One, of the many great mysteries of this life. Looking at the center of the Mayan Calendar seems to lighten the complexity and brilliance of their calendar. It is all pretty crazy and we might as well embrace the trip. Al Stewart - Song on the Radio 6.48 min. | 4.959596 avaliação | 38184 exibições I was making my way through the wasteland The road into town passes through I was changing the radio stations With my mind on you Oh your friends call you "Lily Paloma" But that's not the way that you are It's too much of a gentle misnomer For a shooting star But you and me baby I saw you there Straight away I knew There's really no hiding I'll tell you right now What we're gonna do We'll go collecting the days Putting the moments away You're on my mind like a Song on the Radio I remember the first time I saw you Alone in the dark with a drink With a candle flame burning before you And your thoughts closed in You were staring out into the distance Not seeming to hear what I said Why did you put up such resistance Like all the lights are red' Cause you and me baby I saw you there Straight away I knew There's really no hiding I'll tell you right now What we're gonna do We'll go collecting the days Putting the moments away You're on my mind like a Song on the Radio I don't know what it was that was painful But sometimes it's there in your face There are times when you just look disdainful Of the human race Ah, but then on the wings of emotion We circle each other in flight Till together we roll like the ocean In its bed at night' Cause you and me baby I saw you there Straight away I knew There's really no hiding I'll tell you right now What we're gonna do We'll go collecting the days Putting the moments away You're on my mind like a Song on the Radio You're on my mind like a .... + Informações |

Al Stewart (with Roger Taylor) - Roads To Moscow 8.15 min. | 4.9566927 avaliação | 97740 exibições Roads To Moscow by Al Stewart with Roger Taylor on backing vocals and percussion. Recorded at Trident studios in 1972 during Queen's first album session and released on Al's album 'Past, Present and Future' in 1973. Written by Al Stewart. Lyrics: They crossed over the border the hour before dawn Moving in lines through the day Most of our planes were destroyed on the ground where they lay Waiting for orders we held in the wood - word from the front never came By evening the sound of the gunfire was miles away Ah, softly we move through the shadows, slip away through the trees Crossing their lines in the mists in the fields on our hands and our knees And all that I ever was able to see The fire in the air glowing red silhouetting the smoke on the breeze All summer they drove us back through the Ukraine Smolensk and Viasma soon fell By autumn we stood with our backs to the town of Orel Closer and closer to Moscow they came - riding the wind like a bell General Guderian stands at the crest of the hill Winter brought with her the rains, oceans of mud filled the roads Gluing the tracks of their tanks to the ground while the sky filled with snow And all that I ever was able to see The fire in the air glowing red silhouetting the snow on the breeze In the footsteps of Napoleon the shadow figures stagger through the winter Falling back before the gates of Moscow, Standing in the wings like an avenger And far away behind their lines the partisans are stirring in the forest Coming .... + Informações |

Al Stewart - Lord Grenville (with lyrics) 5.05 min. | 4.976415 avaliação | 62367 exibições Go and tell Lord Grenville that the tide is on the turn It's time to haul the anchor up and leave the land astern We'll be gone before the dawn returns Like voices onthe wind. Go and tell Lord Grenville that our dreams have run aground There's nothing here to keep us in this shanty town None of us are caring where we're bound Like voices on the wind. And come the day you'll hear them saying "They're throwing it all away" Nothing more to say Just throwing it all away. Go and fetch the captain's log and tear the pages out We're on our way to nowhere now, can't bring the helm about None of us are left in any doubt We won't be back again. Send a message to the fleet, they'll search for us in vain We won't be there among the reaches of the Spanish Main Tell the ones we left home not to wait We won't be back again. And come the day you'll hear them saying "They're throwing it all away" Nothing more to say Just throwing it all away. Our time is just a point along a line That runs forever with no end I never thought that we would come to find Ourselves upon these rocks again. Go and tell Lord Grenville that the tide is on the turn.... + Informações |

Palace of Versailles - AL STEWART ('79 MusikLaden TV) 5.10 min. | 5.0 avaliação | 29030 exibições Al Stewart at MusikLaden -a televised music show. Filmed at the TV studios of Radio Bremen in 1979. Peter White keys, Krysia Christianne keys/voc, Adam Yurman guitar, Robin Lamble bass, Harry Stinson drums, Robert Alpert keys. LYRICS- The wands of smoke are rising From the walls of the Bastille And through the streets of Paris Runs a sense of the unreal The Kings have all departed There servants are nowhere We burned out their mansions In the name of Robespierre And still we wait To see the day begin Our time is wasting in the wind Wondering why Wondering why, it echoes Through the lonely palace of Versailles Inside the midnight councils The lamps are burning low On you sit and talk all through the night But there's just no place to go And Bonaparte is coming With his army from the south Marat your days are numbered And we live hand to mouth While we wait To see the day begin Our time is wasting in the wind Wondering why Wondering why, it echoes Through the lonely palace of Versailles The ghost of revolution Still prowls the Paris streets Down all the restless centuries It wonders incomplete It speaks inside the cheap red wine Of cafe summer nights Its red and amber voices Call the cars at traffic lights Why do you wait To see the day begin Your time is wasting in the wind Wondering why Wondering why, it echoes Through the lonely palace of Versailles Wondering why, it echoes Through the lonely palace of Versailles.. + Informações |
