First released in 1984, the song was a hit in some European countries and a minor hit in the US in 1985. Al Corley (born May 22, 1956 in Wichita, Kansas) is an American actor, singer and producer. Corley is best known as the first actor to play Steven Carrington on the 1980s soap opera Dynasty. After that, Corley acted in fourteen movies, then produced five. He was also known as a singer in the 1980s. His 1984 electro-pop single "Square Rooms," from his debut album of the same name became a number one hit in France (in 1985), also reaching #6 in Switzerland, #12 in Italy (in 1985), #13 in Germany and #15 in Austria. The same year, he released "Cold Dresses," which was also a big hit in France, reaching #5. "Waste of Time" is taken from Al Corley's 2nd album, "Riot of Color" on Mercury Records in 1986. Riot of Color was produced by, Helmut Zerlett & also features players...guitarist, Louie Lepore & bassist, Rosko Gee. The Riot of Color album is much less synth & drum machine oriented etc... as Al Corley's 1st album, "Square Rooms" & this time on Riot of Color,the groove is much more acoustic with a very tight & top notch band. Like with Al Corley's 1st album, Square Rooms, the Riot of Color album was a world wide smash in 1986 except in the USA As with the Al's 1st album, Mercury Records in the States again, chose to release the "Riot of Color" album with a total different album cover than the rest of the world. A rare instance of a European improvement on the album cover over the American album cover. The Riot of Color album is worse in the States than the European cover. Mercury Records didnt really promote Al Corley's "Square Rooms" album at all in the USA nor Al's 2nd album on Mercury called, "Riot Of Color" & never even released Al's 3rd album in the USA. What's interesting is that Al Corley was a musician way before he was an actor,but I guess Mercury Records forgot that & thought he was just another TV actor trying to be a musician..... + Informações

"Lie Detector" is taken from Al Corley's debut album,"Square Rooms" on Mercury / Phonogram Records in 1984. This version of "Lie Detector" is a special remixed version that only appeared on the USA album & cassette of Square Rooms. Al Corley's "Square Rooms" album was a "Worldwide Smash Seller" ( several songs from the album charted all over the world) in about every country except for the USA where the album failed to chart or spawn any singles that charted. The album did get some small radio & club play in the USA,but that was all. The "Square Rooms" album was produced by german producer, "Harold Faltermeyer" & contained all original songs written by Al Corley,in fact, the song, "Lie Detector" was written by Al Corley & Carly Simon who Al was dating at the time. A rare instance of an American improvement on a European album. The USA release of the "Square Rooms" album & cassette had a much better album cover & completely different album cover than the European release of the album,cassette & cd.
