"This False World" is a posthumous collaboration between composer David Douglas Thompson and poet CS Thompson. My father, David Douglas Thompson, was a brilliant composer of dark ambient, neo-classical and occasionally even EBM-inspired electronic music. We often discussed the possibility of a collaboration, and after he passed away in October 2006, I began to put this project together, using selections from his final album "Whom the Gods Would Destroy," as well as pieces from his earlier albums. In their study analyzing the re-organization of visual representations in an agnosic patient impaired in object recognition following a lesion to the right lateral fusiform gyrus, Sabine Kastner and colleagues show that functional neural plasticity is possible even when a cortical lesion is sustained in adulthood. Their findings also demonstrate a critical role for this brain region in object recognition and reveal widespread consequences for remote parts of cortex. "Agnosia" in CBK Zuidoost, Amsterdam July 14, 2011 - September 22, 2011 Thursday, July 14, 2011, 17:00pm, the exhibition Agnosia opened in CBK Zuidoost, Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Agnosia is a group exhibition by Black Dutch artists. The guest curator is visual artist Charl Landvreugd. The participating artists are: Brian Coutinho, Avantia Damberg, Faranú, Rose Manuel, Tiquestar Illuminat Rex, Felix de Rooy en Patrick de Vries. With Agnosia Charl Landvreugd explores different expressions of the visual language of black Dutch artists. For this group exhibition Landvreugd selected artists who were born and/or grew up in The Netherlands. He wants to show how their position as Black Europeans is visible in their work. Agnosia is the incapacity to recognize something which is observed with the senses. The term gets its significance with the questions that Landvreugd brings up: Are extra signs and symbolism in the visual language of the artist understood by the viewer/critic? And, are they meant to be understood? With Agnosia Landvreugd explores several expressions of Black Dutch visual language. Originating from Piraeus / Hellas, the band plays progressive metal music, with influences from classic rock, hard rock, jazz and ethnic music genres. The lyrical work based on concept stories. In the same year the demo cd The Inner Confict was recorded at Fragile Studios in Greece and finally released during 2004. The Bass Sessions for that recording were arranged and performed by the producer Vangelis Yalamas from the Greek Progsters Fragile Vastness. The worldwide metal press was impressed by that first sample of agnosias work. Respected metal magazines and fanzines such as Metal Hammer Greece (8/10), Metalzone Magazine Greece (8.5/10) Metaleagle.com (7/10), The Metal Observer (7.5/10), Shapelesszine (8/10), Metalcoven.de (84%), Barikada.com (8/10), Powermetal.de had written enthusiastic and optimistic words for agnosia. During 2004, the former keyboard player Chris (Wastefall) has been parted ways with the band due to lack of time and obligations. The multi-skilled musician and composer Pantelis filled the place. Additionally Julio assumed the responsibility of the bass-lines as a full time member.
