Aero the Acro-Bat (get it? As in Acrobatic Bat) was created by Sunsoft during the mascot craze of the 16-bit era, a period where mascots were being more and more associated with their respective company, such as Mario from Nintendo and Sonic the Hedgehog from Sega. Sunsoft never did so well outside Japan after the 16-bit era, but Aero, being from that period in video gaming, did enjoy some success, they even made a sequel. In this video, the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive version is shown, but the game was also released on the SNES and much later on the GBA with a save feature, not present in prior versions such as this one. For those who know the Aero the Acro-Bat series, this is a spin-off starring Aero's rival, Zero, who is a squirrel as you might know from the title. This game came out around the same time as Aero the Acro-Bat 2. There never was a third game in the Acro-Bat series, even if the second one's ending hinted to a sequel. A GBA version of the game shown in this video was planned, but cancelled. Aero the Acro-Bat has a version on the GBA.
