"Brigitte" by David W Solomons Classical guitar solo Score available at dwsolo.load.cd The inspiration for this impressionistic guitar solo goes back to 1975 when I read Adalbert Stifter's Brigitta, but, as I see it thirty four years later, the music doesn't really have so much to do with the story. However, having met two Brigitten recently, with whom I was pleased to sing at a Singkreis in Haworth, I renamed the piece "Brigitte" in their honour, transcribed it from my old manuscripts and performed it this very evening. It is a meditative piece and its sparseness of chords allows the guitarist to make the most of his/her technique to create the most beautiful sounds possible on every single note (which I hope will be better than my performance!). Guitarists are welcome to send me mp3s of their interpretations :-) The Yellow guitarist image is a painting of me, done many years ago, when I still had hair!
