DVD: www.amazon.com thefilmarchive.org The Flying Deuces, also known as Flying Aces, is a 1939 comedy film starring Laurel and Hardy, in which the duo join the French Foreign Legion. It is a partial remake of their 1931 short film Beau Hunks. The boys are in Paris. Ollie proposes to the innkeeper's daughter Georgette, who is actually married to a soldier, François. When she turns him down, Ollie decides to jump into the River Seine. He drags Stan along with him, and they discuss reincarnation: Stan: Well now that you're going to go, what would you like to come back as? Ollie: Well I haven't given it much thought. I like horses. I guess I'd like to come back as a horse. Stan: Hah! Ollie: What would you like to be when you come back? Stan: Oh, I'd rather come back as myself. I always got on swell with me. The boys are saved from suicide in the nick of time when François changes their mind and recruits them into the French Foreign Legion. They are sent to a fort in North Africa, where they disrupt drills, and are eventually sent to do laundry work. They accidentally throw wet underwear in the face of an officer and set a mountain of clothes on fire. They find that they are not army material (as one would guess) and they desert, after having sent an offensive letter to their commandant. They are imprisoned and sentenced to execution by firing squad. Ollie: Shot at sunrise! Stan: I hope its cloudy tomorrow! The boys find a secret tunnel, but it caves in. Wade Williams describes it on the DVD case as a "must-see for fans of the bizarre and unexplainable". It won the award of "Most Primitive Male Chauvinist Fantasy" in the book Son of Golden Turkey Awards. A couple are found wandering nearly dead in a desert. Recovering, they tell their story. The movie flashes back a year. A mad scientist, Dr. Aranya (Jackie Coogan), has created giant spiders in his Mexican lab in Zarpa Mesa to create a race of superwomen by injecting spiders with human pituitary growth hormones. Women develop miraculous regenerative powers, but men mutate into disfigured dwarves. Spiders grow to human size and intelligence. Aranya invites another scientist, Dr. Masterson, to join him. Masterson visits Zarpa but is horrified. Aranya has him injected with a drug, turning him into a doddering simpleton. Masterson escapes, and visits a cantina. A rich man (Jan van Croft) and his young American fiancee also visit the cantina while their private plane is repaired. Masterson joins them and fawns over Doreen. Tarantella, (Tandra Quinn) one of Aranya's best spider women, does a strange and sensual dance for Masterson. He shoots Tarantella (although she recovers). Masterson hijacks Van Croft's group, forcing them to fly in the un-repaired plane. They crash land onto Zarpa Mesa. Soon the small group .... + Informações

It was released by Paramount Pictures and is the sixth of the seven Road to ... movies. It was the only such movie filmed in color and was the first to feature surprise cameo appearances from other well-known stars of the day. George and Harold, American song-and dance-men performing in Melbourne, Australia, have to leave in a hurry to avoid various marriage proposals. They end up in Darwin, where they take jobs as pearl divers for a prince. They are taken by boat to an idyllic island on the way to Bali, (the location is unclear, but possibly in the Maluku Islands). They vie with each other for the favours of exotic (and half-Scottish) Princess Lalah, a cousin of the Prince. The hazardous dive produces a chest of priceless jewels, which the prince plans to claim as his own. After escaping from the prince and his henchmen, the three are shipwrecked and washed up another island. Lalah is now in love with both of the boys and can't decide which to chose. Following further romantic complications, the boys participate in a traditional marriage ceremony, both thinking they're marrying Lalah. In fact, she's being unwillingly married to the already much-married King. Harold conjures up Jane Russell from a basket by playing a flute and thinks that he's going to get her.
