More than 500 tree plantation workers in Uganda are set to lose their jobs after a UK-based forestry company, which hired them, decided to suspended plantations for this year in the wake of what it called bad publicity. A report by the Oxfam international charity said thousands of people's lives had been ruined when they were evicted from their farmlands to make way for the plantations. International Finance Corporation, an arm of the World Bank, subsequently decided to withdraw funds from the plantations. Oxfam says the company did not comply with international regulations, and some investors had pulled out because of that. One analyst says that despite the delayed results of the election, Mugabe will have no choice but to accept the verdict of the people. The Candyskins are a rock band formed in 1989 in Oxford, England and though early members of the 'Oxford Scene', enjoyed limited commercial success compared to their contemporaries Radiohead and Supergrass.
